أعلنت سلطة الاثار الاسرائيلية، اليوم، كشفها لسيف روماني، يعود لنحو الفي عام، في قناة الصرف الصحي التي تم حفرها سابقا من سلوان حتى الحديقة الاثرية التي افتتحتها سلطات الاحتلال جنوب المسجد الاقصى.
وقالت السلطة، في بيان انها عثرت على السيف، وحجر نقش عليه شعار الشمعدان، خلال الاعمال التي تجرى في القناة التي كُشف عنها عام 2000، في حفريات غير شرعية، ذات اهداف تهويدية.
وقدمت السلطة روايتها، وتأويلها لما تم اكتشافه، معتبرة ان القناة كانت ملجأً لأهالي القدس، للاختباء بها، خلال تدمير الرومان للهيكل الثاني.
انا ليس لدي اية مشكلة مع الثورة اليهودية ضد الرومان، واعتبرها جزءً من هويتي الفلسطينية، ولكن لم افهم الربط بين السيف الروماني ونقش حجري وتلك الثورة.
تمتد القناة من بركة سلوان، الى الحديقة الاثرية، قريبا من حائط البراق، وتم العثور على السيف والنقش الحجري مؤخرا، خلال اعمال اثرية غير شرعية، تنفذها سلطة الاثار بالتعاون مع سلطة الطبيعة والحدائق، بتمويل من قبل مؤسسة مدينة داود الاستيطانية.
ويُقدر عمر السيف بنحو الفي عام، وهو مصنوع من الحديد، وعثر عليه في غمده، وعثر ايضا على جزء من الحزام، الذي استخدم لحمل السيف.
وقال ايلي شكرون، مدير سلطة الاثار الاسرائيلية، والبروفيسور روني رايش من جامعة حيفا: "يبدو أن السيف يخص قوات المشاة التابعة للحامية الرومانية المتمركزة في البلاد عند اندلاع الثورة الكبرى ضد الرومان في عام 66م".
وابدى رايخ دهشته، من حالة السيف المعقولة رغم عمره المديد، ومحافظته على غمده الجلدي، وبعض الزخارف.
وبالنسبة للحجر المنقوش عليه الشمعدان، فعثر عليه تحت الشارع، وعلى جانب قناة الصرف، وقال البروفيسور رايش: "نحن امام نقش مثير للاهتمام".
